Introduction

We protect your personal data in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR requires data controllers such as ourselves to document our lawful basis for processing personal data. It also gives you rights over how your data is processed. This privacy policy documents the data we collect, why and how we process it, and how to exercise your rights.

The majority of our guests are residents of the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, so we apply UK GDPR and EU GDPR standards to all guests as our baseline, regardless of where you live. Where additional obligations under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) apply because we operate from Türkiye, those obligations apply alongside GDPR — never instead of.

This website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

Data controller

The data controller responsible for this website is Bodrum Holiday Homes, trading as Yalihan Emlak (a Turkish sole proprietorship) under the brand name Bodrum Holiday Homes.

This website contains links to third-party websites, which have their own data controllers and privacy policies. This privacy policy applies only to this website.

The data we collect about you

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you, which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data: first name, last name, username, marital status, title, date of birth, and gender.
  • Contact Data: billing address, delivery address, email address, and telephone numbers.
  • Financial & Transaction Data: We do not collect or store credit card or bank account details. All sensitive payment information is processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We only keep a record of basic transaction data, such as your payment history and details of the services you have purchased from us.
  • Technical & Usage Data: internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, and information about how you use our website.
  • Marketing and Communications Data: your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties.

We do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you (such as details about your race, ethnicity, or religious beliefs), nor do we collect information about criminal convictions.

Lawful basis for processing

For each method by which we collect personal data, this privacy policy documents our lawful basis for processing the data. Where we rely on your consent to process your data, we explain how you can withdraw your consent and delete your data.

Individual rights

The GDPR gives you rights over how your personal data is processed. You can exercise your rights by contacting us at privacy@bodrumholidayhomes.com. In some cases you can also exercise your rights through automated systems, as described at the relevant points in this privacy policy.

Security

The GDPR requires us to implement appropriate technical measures to protect data. We verify the identity of any individual who requests access to data before granting access. We use Transport Layer Security (TLS, also known as SSL) to encrypt any data you supply to us through our website. Additional technical measures are described at the relevant points in this privacy policy.

Disclosures

In addition to any sharing of data described elsewhere in this privacy policy, we may disclose your personal data to third parties if we are under a duty to disclose or share it in order to comply with any legal obligation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bodrum Holiday Homes, our guests, or others.

Please note that as a legally registered holiday accommodation provider in Türkiye, we are required by local law to register guest identification details (such as a passport) with the local authorities upon your arrival.

International transfers

Our service is global by nature and your data may therefore be transferred outside of your home country. Because different countries may have different data protection laws, we take steps to ensure adequate safeguards are in place to protect your data (such as standard contractual clauses) in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

Data retention

We will only keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. By law, we have to keep basic information about our customers for a specific duration after they cease being customers for tax purposes. In some circumstances, you can ask us to delete your data.

SMS and Email Communications

To facilitate bookings, we send transactional messages via email and SMS to our guests (such as booking confirmations and customer service updates). We may also send promotional emails. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in the email footer. You can cancel the SMS service at any time by texting “STOP” as a reply to any message we send you.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may occasionally make changes to this privacy policy. Following any changes, the date at the bottom of this privacy policy will be updated. If any change allows for wider access to data, such changes will only apply to data collected after the date of the updated privacy policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of text that are stored by your browser. Each cookie has a name and is associated with a particular site. When your browser sends a request to a site (for example, to download a page, image, or video), the computer that responds (known as a server) may tell your browser to set one or more cookies. When your browser makes further requests to the same site it sends the cookies back to the server. This allows the server to remember you as you browse the site, and provide features such as shopping baskets, booking requests, or password-protected areas. For more information on the cookies we use, see our cookie policy.
